Print this out and take it to your next doctor's appointment. When asked to rate your pain on a scale of one to ten, use this visual representation and the accompanying descriptions. This "10-scale" is so much easier to explain.
1: I am completely unsure whether I am experiencing pain or itching or maybe I just have a bad taste in my mouth.
2: I probably just need a Band Aid.
3: This is distressing. I don’t want this to be happening to me at all.
4: My pain is not fucking around.
5: Why is this happening to me??
6: Ow. Okay, my pain is super legit now.
7: I see Jesus coming for me and I’m scared.
8: I am experiencing a disturbing amount of pain. I might actually be dying. Please help.
9: I am almost definitely dying.
10: I am actively being mauled by a bear.
11: Blood is going to explode out of my face at any moment.
Too Serious For Numbers: You probably have Fibromyalgia. It appears that you may also be suffering from Stigmata and/or pinkeye.
Gentle hugs and wishes it was just itches,
Jessi
This is great, Jessi!! I love it! Would you mind if I repost it on my blog, with a link to your blog giving you credit (of course), but with a few of the words changed?
ReplyDeletethis is so funny! I love it.
ReplyDeleteI agree! Can I repost??
ReplyDeleteI love it!! Please post to Tumblr; I must reblog!! I will defs take this to my next specialist appointment, it'll be very useful.
ReplyDeleteI love this pain scale! It is SO MUCH more accurate than the one my dr uses...and she'd appreciate the descriptions. I'll have to bring it to her.
ReplyDeleteMay I repost on my blog as well?
Yes, she is a genius for posting it but she DID NOT write it! This was made, drawn and written by ALLIE BROSH OF HYPERBOLE AND A HALF! IF YOU WANT PERMISSION TO POST IT, ASK HER!

by the way, you don't give her credit you give Allie Brosh of Hyperbole and a half credit!
Credit to the blog "Hyperbole and a Half" is, and always has been, at the top of this post and links to her blog.
ReplyDeleteNo, I did not write this. I saw it posted on Tumblr without credit to the original author, I tracked down who actually wrote it (and drew those hilarious faces), and I posted it with a "From Hyperbole and a Half" and a link.
Once I found Allie's blog I fell in love with it. It's so funny and original! If you haven't checked it out, I encourage you to do so. Just follow the link that is, and always has been, at the top of this post.
